London Calling

What a fantastic evening for our fabulous fourteen newbie runners. Despite the terrible wind and rain, 10 brave souls turned up and the other four had good excuses. All for the wonderful cause of granting meaningful wishes to people reaching the end of their dementia journey.

Jules our Charity Head Honcho and professional running and fitness coach led the session at Butts Close Park in Hitchin. She put the runners through their paces, as they all began the journey to rise up off their couches and run a 10k at the prestigious Saucony Run taking in all the best landmarks of London on 12 July.

In just 18 short weeks, every single one of them will cross the finish line and have raised over £4,000 in total to help June’s Wish in granting wishes to dementia sufferers and their families. A last hurrah for their loved ones. Perhaps a bucket list item they never managed, or a simple drive to the coast or visit to a zoo.

Our incredible runners come from BNI Prosper and Tessiant Consultancy and we couldn’t be prouder that they have got behind our cause and strapped on their running shoes for June’s Wish.

Jules was exhilarated by the session and said, “It’s a privilege to work with non-runners or people who haven’t run for a long while and encourage them on their own route to fitness and an exciting target with thousands of other runners in July”

Jules will run with them on the day and she added, “I’ll be with them every step of the way and I know my mum was watching down tonight as she was a keen runner herself, even in her later life. She’ll be up there cheering us on every Thursday and on the race day itself”.
